I was never a car person. I just wanted good, dependable transportation. My first car was a 1964 Chevy Impala SS. Two-tone, two-door, no air conditioning, an AM radio. I added an eight track tape player and a CB radio (this was in 1972). I paid $500 (that's right five hundred bucks). Drove it for five years then sold it back to the dealer for the same $500 five years later. Then the 1980's came along, with higher gas prices, and people clamoring for "fuel efficient" cars. Detroit started spitting out homogenous cars. They all looked alike, and they all prettymuch sucked. Most everyone longed for the old "muscle cars" with their distinctive designs, color schemes, and powerful engines. I wanted my old '64 Impala back — know what that car would be worth today?
