Feeding Birds In The Winter

During the winter, bird feeding becomes especially important as natural food sources become scarce. Here are some tips for feeding birds in the winter: It also brings the birds into range for photography.

  1. Offer a variety of food - Try offering black oil sunflower seeds, suet cakes, peanuts, millet, and Nyjer seed.

  2. Keep feeders clean - Regularly clean and disinfect bird feeders to prevent the spread of disease.

  3. Provide water - Offer a source of unfrozen water for birds to drink and bathe in.

  4. Place feeders in a safe location - Keep feeders away from potential predators, such as cats, and in a location visible from a window for easy bird watching.

  5. Be consistent - Try to keep a consistent feeding schedule to attract birds.

By following these tips, you can help support the local bird population during the harsh winter months. and maybe get some great photos.
