Route 66 was the first continental highway to span the United States. It was a vital lifeline for the country. It was emblazoned on the minds of every American in John Steinbeck’s book The Grapes of Wrath. After the book was made into a movie, the highway would forever be thought of as the “mother road.” Oklahoma currently has the longest stretch of continuous Route 66 still in use, and many eagerly seek to drive the entire length of the highway. Randy spent several months doing just that for a magazine article (which the editors decided to break into two parts – east if I35 and west of I35).
